The Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ashtak (popularly known as Hanuman Ashtak) is a beautiful devotional poem in Awadhi language composed by Goswami Tulsidas. While the Hanuman Chalisa lists the attributes and general glories of Hanuman, the Ashtak focuses on recollecting specific historic crises that Hanuman resolved in an instant, showing how he acts as a direct redeemer of suffering.
Astrological Significance of Hanuman Ashtak
- Relief from Saturn (Shani) Afflictions: This prayer is heavily used as a protective remedy during challenging transits like Saturn's Sade Sati or Dhaiya.
- Pacifies Mars (Mangal) Dosha: Recitation of the Ashtak helps channel raw energy constructively, removing the anger, delays, and obstacles caused by Mars afflictions in the birth chart.
Best Practices for Recitation
- Frequency: Devotees often recite it 1, 3, or 7 times after the Hanuman Chalisa.
- Timing: Reciting it in the evening, particularly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, is considered highly beneficial.
