Which Stotra for Which Planet?

Vedic remedies work best when the deity, the graha, and your actual life situation align. A stotra is not a generic good-luck charm. Each hymn invokes a specific divine form that classical astrology links to a planetary energy. Chanting the wrong text rarely harms you, but chanting the right one with consistency changes how you carry that planet's pressure.

This guide maps all nine grahas to the stotras on this site. Use it during Mahadasha, Antardasha, difficult transits, or when a planet repeatedly shows up in your chart readings.

Navagraha planetary deities in Vedic astrology

For a single daily practice covering every planet, start with the Navagraha Mantra. The sections below go deeper per graha.

Surya (Sun)

Surya rules vitality, father, authority, government, and self-confidence. Weak or afflicted Sun shows as low energy, ego wounds, or friction with authority.

How to Choose When Multiple Planets Are Active

Your birth chart rarely stresses one planet alone. Use this priority order:

  1. Mahadasha lord — the planet ruling your current major period gets first attention.
  2. Antardasha lord — the sub-period planet refines the theme.
  3. Transit trigger — a slow graha crossing a sensitive house (especially 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 12th from Moon) activates remedies even outside dasha.
  4. Affliction in birth chart — a debilitated or combust planet in the D1 chart benefits from lifelong weekly practice.

If Saturn Mahadasha and Rahu Antardasha run together, combine Saturday Shani remedies with Durga/Rahu stotras. If Guru Mahadasha needs support, Thursday Guru Chalisa is enough unless Jupiter is severely afflicted.

Daily Method That Actually Sticks

Pick one primary stotra for your active planet. Chant it at the same time each week on the planet's day. Use 108 repetitions for mantras or one full reading for chalisas and stotrams. Add charity and honest conduct. Remedies amplify who you are becoming, not who you pretend to be.

Browse all hymns on the Stotras page and filter by planet, deity, or category.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I chant multiple planet stotras in one day?

Yes, but start with one primary practice until it becomes habitual. Adding three new chalisas at once usually leads to dropping all of them within two weeks.

Do stotras work without knowing Sanskrit?

Yes. Read transliteration aloud, understand the meaning in your language, and chant with attention. Correct pronunciation helps but consistency matters more.

Which stotra is best during Navratri?

Begin with Devi Kavacham, then Argala Stotram, then Mahishasura Mardini Stotram. Add Durga Chalisa for daily household practice.

Should remedies replace a chart reading?

No. Stotras support the mind and invoke grace. They do not replace understanding your dasha, transits, and house placements. Book a reading when timing decisions matter.
