Your D9 Navamsa chart, with every planet's sign
Enter your birth details to draw your Navamsa (D9) chart in North and South Indian styles, see the D9 sign of each planet next to its birth-chart sign, and find your Vargottama planets. Lahiri ayanamsa, calculated for your birth place.
What the Navamsa (D9) chart is
The Navamsa divides each sign into nine parts of 3 degrees 20 minutes. Each part gives a planet a sign in the D9 chart. The count starts from Aries for fire signs, Capricorn for earth signs, Libra for air signs and Cancer for water signs, then runs through the zodiac in order.
It is the most important divisional chart after the birth chart. Tradition reads it for marriage and the spouse, for dharma and inner life, and above all as a test of a planet's real strength: a planet strong in D1 but weak in D9 is said to give less than it promises.
Vargottama planets
A planet is Vargottama when it is in the same sign in the birth chart and in the Navamsa. Such a planet is considered steady and strong, because its promise in D1 is confirmed in D9. The table above marks them for you.
A kundli is a traditional tool for reflection and guidance. It is not a prediction you must accept, and it does not replace medical, legal or financial advice.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find my D9 chart?
Enter your date, time and place of birth above. The calculator finds your planets and ascendant, then converts each one to its Navamsa sign and draws the D9 chart.
What does the D9 chart show?
Traditionally the D9 shows marriage and the spouse, dharma and the inner life, and the true strength of each planet. It is always read together with the birth chart, never alone.
What is a Vargottama planet?
A planet that sits in the same sign in the birth chart and in the Navamsa. It is traditionally considered strong and steady.
Why does the D9 need an exact birth time?
Each Navamsa part is only 3 degrees 20 minutes wide. The ascendant moves about 1 degree every four minutes, so a few minutes of error can change your Navamsa lagna and the house of every planet in D9.
Is the D9 chart used for marriage matching?
Astrologers read the D9 of both people for the spouse and the marriage, in addition to the 36-point Guna Milan from the Moon. For the Guna Milan score, use the kundli matching tool.
Which ayanamsa does this D9 calculator use?
Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, the Indian standard, with the true node for Rahu and Ketu. A planet very close to a Navamsa boundary can fall in a different D9 sign in software that uses another ayanamsa.
The D9 is read together with the birth chart. Book a consultation to read your Navamsa for marriage, dharma and the real strength of your planets.
