Are you Manglik? Check Mangal Dosha in your kundli

Enter your birth details. We place Mars in your chart, count its house from the Lagna, the Moon and Venus, apply the traditional cancellations and tell you whether the dosha is active, partial or cancelled, in plain language.

Place of birth

Search your birth city and pick it from the list.

Use the local time shown on the birth certificate. The ascendant changes about every two hours and the Moon's nakshatra about once a day, so a few minutes can matter.

What Mangal Dosha is

Mangal Dosha, also called Manglik or Kuja dosha, is said to arise when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the chart. Mars is the planet of energy and heat, and in those houses it is traditionally linked with friction in marriage and partnership.

Mars is counted from three points: the Lagna, the Moon and Venus. If it falls in a Manglik house from all three, the dosha is full (purna); from some, it is partial (anshik).

When the dosha is cancelled

  • Mars is in its own sign (Aries or Scorpio) or exalted in Capricorn.
  • Mars is with Jupiter, the Moon or Venus in the same house.
  • Mars is aspected by Jupiter.
  • Both partners are Manglik, which is traditionally considered to balance each other.

How to take it in the right spirit

Manglik dosha is one factor among many. A strong, well-placed Mars gives energy and courage, and many happy marriages involve one or both partners being Manglik. Weigh it with the Guna Milan score, the 7th house and the running dashas, and be wary of anyone who uses it to sell expensive remedies.

A kundli is a traditional tool for reflection and guidance. It is not a prediction you must accept, and it does not replace medical, legal or financial advice.

Frequently asked questions

What is Mangal Dosha?

Mangal Dosha, or Manglik dosha, is a condition in Vedic astrology when Mars is in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the Lagna, the Moon or Venus. It is traditionally linked with friction in marriage, but it is judged together with cancellations and the partner's chart.

How do I check if I am Manglik?

Enter your date, time and place of birth in the calculator. It places Mars in your chart, counts its house from the Lagna, Moon and Venus, and tells you whether Manglik dosha is active, partial, cancelled or absent.

What is the difference between full and partial Manglik?

If Mars is in a Manglik house from all three reference points (Lagna, Moon and Venus) the dosha is full (purna). If it is so from only one or two, it is partial (anshik) and generally considered milder.

Can Manglik dosha be cancelled?

Yes. Traditional cancellations include Mars in its own sign or exalted, Mars with Jupiter, the Moon or Venus, Jupiter's aspect on Mars, and both partners being Manglik. The calculator lists any cancellation it finds.

Can a Manglik marry a non-Manglik?

Traditionally it is advised to weigh this carefully, ideally with an astrologer, looking at both charts, the strength of Mars and the rest of the match. A cancelled or mild dosha is usually not treated as a barrier.

Is Manglik dosha the same as Kuja dosha?

Yes. Mangal, Kuja and Bhauma are all names for Mars, so Mangal Dosha, Kuja Dosha and Manglik dosha describe the same condition.

Does Manglik dosha affect men and women equally?

The rule is the same for both. It is read from the individual's own chart and then compared with the partner's, so there is no separate rule by gender.

Whether Manglik dosha matters depends on the whole chart and on your partner's. Book a consultation to have both charts read together.
